“Why Do We Need Pedagogical Frameworks?”
Maria Lim, Donielle Ploch, and Annabell Cox
Date: Saturday, October 11, 2025. Time: 1-1:50 PM
Description:
This presentation will examine evolving pedagogical frameworks, including culturally responsive teaching, community-based art education, teaching for artistic behavior (TAB), social-emotional learning (SEL)-oriented practices, and more. Pedagogical frameworks provide a structured foundation for effective teaching, guiding educators in designing meaningful, inclusive, and student-centered learning experiences. This session explores the aspects of pedagogical frameworks in art education and how pre-service teachers can develop them by researching contemporary theories, approaches, trends, and practices. This session will demonstrate how research-driven pedagogical frameworks enhance teaching effectiveness and support student teachers’ professional development through discussions on literature review research projects conducted by student teachers. Attendees will leave with strategies for incorporating contemporary art education conceptual framework into their teaching, ensuring their pedagogical approaches remain dynamic, relevant, and impactful in today’s evolving educational landscape.
